In the heart of Brixton lies a communal garden that is maintained and run by 22 local volunteers. Once a kitchen garden belonging to the nearby Brockwell Park estate, the project now aims to provide a resource for the public and to promote organic food and plant production. It provides a meeting place for many different cultures and hundreds of species of fruit and vegetables are grown throughout the year, in the restored 1950s greenhouses and surrounding plots.
